, many members of 5 Wentworth have extensive experience in banking, personal and corporate insolvency and securities law. John Sheahan SC and Gregory Burton SC have appeared for many years in leading cases in the field and in numerous cases in all aspects of banking and insolvency. Both have been on litigation panels of leading financial institutions, where they have achieved commercial settlements of complex litigation in addition to other forms of litigious success. Both are editors of the Journal of Banking and Finance Law and Practice.
Additionally, Gregory Burton SC co-edits the leading banking text in Australia (Weaver and Craigie's Banker and Customer) and edits and writes in finance and related areas for Halsbury's Laws of Australia and journals, among other publications.
David Bennett AC QC
has appeared in numerous banking, securities and insolvency cases since 1967. For many years before he became solicitor-general, he held a general retainer for the Commonwealth Bank. In particular he appeared for that bank in the Bank of Melbourne litigation before the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Elizabeth Raper has written in the Insolvency Law Bulletin, has conducted specific research into the intersection between employment and insolvency law and has lectured in this area at the University of Sydney. Cynthia Cochrane regularly writes notes in banking journals and reports. In 2008 Andrew Bulley completed a non degree Masters course at the University of Sydney in Insolvency and Bankruptcy.
Banking, finance, insolvency and securities law requires knowledge and practical experience across the spectrum of equity and trusts, common law and statute (such as misleading or deceptive conduct).
