Education
Mr Carr studied at the University of Sydney, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts (1980) and a Bachelor of Laws (1983).

Memberships
Mr Carr has been a member of the Australian Insurance Institute and was a Committee Member of the Australian Insurance Law Association from 1995 to 2000, whilst also being Chairman of the Education and Seminars Committee.

Mr Carr has also been a member of the Arbitration Committee of the Law Society, an early neutral evaluator for the Supreme Court of NSW, an arbitrator for the District and Supreme Courts of NSW and a court appointed mediator of the Dust Diseases Tribunal.
